1st RIPLEY SCOUTS
1st Ripley Scout Group is an active group and is part of Guildford East district in the county of Surrey. The group consists of three sections; Beaver Scouts for young people aged 6 to 8 years, Cub Scouts for young people aged 8 to 10½ years and Scouts for young people aged 10½ to 14 years. Note that with effect from 1st January 2007 all Sections have been open to girls as well as boys. We currently have a youth membership of around 80 and about 12 leaders and helpers. All adults working in the group are volunteers and give their time freely.
Hungry Hill Explorer unit is one of five District Explorer Scout units and is partnered with the 1st Ripley Scout Group. For young men and women from 14 to 18, the unit usually meets weekly at 1st Ripley Scout Headquarters. The partnership agreement formalises the already close relationship between the unit and 1st Ripley Scout Group and allows continued use of the headquarters and equipment.
The Leaders are supported by the Group Executive Committee which is made up of a Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Uniformed Scouters and Lay Members. The Executive Committee are responsible for raising funds for the running of the Group, maintenance of the headquarters buildings and equipment and the hiring of the hall and marquee.
We are located in the village of Ripley. Our headquarters in Rose Lane comprises a purpose built building in the style of a Dutch barn and the adjoining old village Fire Station. We are situated on a plot of land once occupied by the Baden-Powell family. The building is fully equipped and includes facilities for disabled people. Our headquarters is used most week nights for section meetings, but is available for hire at other times. For further information click
